Comments on: compiling libvirt and ruby-libvirt on mac os x

Libvirt 0.8.5 (and onwards) now works on the Mac, and it’s in Homebrew.

It’s known to work on Leopard and Snow Leopard, and works with VirtualBox locally installed at the moment. It can also manage remote servers (ie QEMU, and probably others).

We still have more work to do over time, expanding out the drivers available and such, but its a solid start.

I’ll have to check it out when I get a chance — I haven’t recompiled libvirt (or used it, honestly) in a few months!

I just want to note that it looks like libvirt (from git, anyways) at this point in time compiles cleanly on Mac without any of the above hacks
